Chapter 7 & 8 interesting concept
In chapter 7 there was a section that talked about citing from popular media sources as references. Apparently USA Today isn’t a very reliable source, and then I realized I had used a quote from one of their articles. I also didn’t know that People magazine wasn’t a reliable source either. I see the magazines everywhere and just assume that they were reliable but they aren’t. Now I know that I have to do more research on my research to make sure the data that I use are creditable. Even though the sources aren’t reliably I wonder if the audience can tell if the information is reliable or not.

Chapter 7 does mention to provide a lot of citing from different sources. This includes the radio! Which was surprising to me, because I find it rare that a random radio station would be discussing about the topic that we happen to choose to write about? If it does happen, then it's a big coincident. Overall, most magazines aren't too reliable. I sometimes view the magazine to be a bit bias, because they intend to exaggerate about their stories. And also some stories seem a bit bias, because as some writers they can take sides. Therefore they add a little bit of their opinion in there or make the piece follow under the reporter’s opinion. Was that confusing to understand?
ReplyDeleteHello Niko! What types of sources are you going to use for the coming speech? You mentioned USA Today and People magazine - why do you think these sources aren't as reliable as other sources? Since I asked you to bring in your sources during the last meeting for this coming speech, what did you bring in then, and have you changed your sources since we last met?
