The importance of audience analysis and audience adaptation

The audience believes that the speaker is trustworthy when a speech is given. The speaker must show that they are trustworthy about their information and need the audience’s attention. The audiences will trust the speaker more if the speaker sounds like they know what they are talking about. It’s also a good to go to the speech place and check out the room to get an idea of where the speech is going to be held. I know that most of my audiences are my fellow classmates and that they all go to the same school attending the same class as me for the same reason. I can go on their blogs and read some of their posts to get a better idea of who they are. I also plan to go to the place where the speech will be held sometime next week before the speech is given.

  1. Hey Niko!

I like how you said that the audience trusts the speaker when they are giving their speech. That is a very important when trying to tell people your message in the presentation. I also liked how you said you could get to know the audience by looking at peoples blogs, which I never really thought of! So good job on that haha. I also thought of checking out the room where we are going to be speaking next week to get a visual of how I am going to present myself and to prepare for that big day! Hopefully all is well and I will see you soon. Good Luck!

  2. I would definitely not like a speaker lying to me, so I totally agree that a speaker must show they are trustworthy. Knowing the speech place and checking out the location does help give you an idea on what to expect. It helps to imagine yourself standing in front of the audience so you can figure how to present yourself in the most confident way. I like that you mention that you read your classmates blogs to get a better knowledge of who they are. I should take that in mind to do the same so I know who my audience are. Very good tip given thanks!

  4. I wouldn't want a speaker lying to me either. I agree that if the speaker seems to know what they are talking about the more the audience will trust the speaker. Trust is a great issue in audience analysis. Going to the room where we will be giving our speech will help. It can help you can get comfortable with the environment, so when you go to class Friday, things won’t be so overwhelming. I might stop by the room too. I am going to practice my speech a bit and hopefully I will feel less anxious about presenting it.
